Discover the vibrant history and culture of the Waccamaw People, a South Carolina indigenous tribe acknowledged by the state. Led by Chief Harold Buster Hatcher, the Waccamaw have resided in the region for centuries and currently have tribal grounds in Aynor, SC. Although not federally recognized, Chief Hatcher has devoted himself to preserving his people's history by participating in interviews and events. Thanks to his dedication, the Waccamaw People's heritage endures.
